What is Social Engineering?

 

Today as we all know, the rate of cyber crime has skyrocketed.

 

They say we are in a digital era…everything’s now online. From our businesses, institutions, etc.

 

We can now do almost everything online.

 

We can make transactions, shop, do business and communicate online.

 

This kind of communication in the cyber space has brought about exposure of large amounts of data and information.

 

Cyber criminals are always on the look out for these data.

 

They want your information. They want it so bad that they can do anything to get it. I guess you all know what they want your data so badly for..😀

 

Over the years, cyber security professionals have studied these criminals and they have come up with some of the techniques these criminals use.

 

 

Most of these techniques are technical. They include stuff like hacking and making malicious attacks but there’s a technique they use which is very simple but at the same time very deadly.

 

This technique in some cases is the easiest as they don’t have to use any hacking or technical tools.

 

This technique is called SOCIAL ENGINEERING.

 

Social engineering simply put is a non technical strategy used by cyber criminals to Manipulate individuals into performing certain actions or divulging confidential information.

 

This series will be very insightful because I’ll be going deep and explaining all the tactics they use.
